Critical Mass is a worldwide movement to promote the use of bicycles as a viable means of transportation. We dream of a city where cars respect cyclists' rights to the road and where everyone recognizes that biking, walking, and public transportation are viable alternatives to cars. We imagine alternatives to the dominant "car-culture," America's environmentally and socially destructive overdependence on the private automobile. We enact our vision through group bicycle rides, in which we reclaim city streets and create a temporary space for art, music, and human-scale community.
